Sick Visit

What is a sick visit?

While receiving regular checkups and preventive care is important to maintain the health of your child, unexpected illnesses or emergencies can and will come up. When this happens, receiving prompt medical care is of the utmost importance.

A sick visit is a visit to your child’s doctor’s office to discuss, diagnose, and treat an unexpected illness or injury. A sick visit doesn’t take the place of emergency care. The team at Lapeer Pediatrics is happy to offer their patients easy and convenient care for those unexpected situations.

What conditions are usually treated during a sick visit?

Often, it can be hard to decide when to bring your child to the doctor or when to simply care for them at home. Common reasons for a sick visit include:

  • Minor lacerations (cuts and tears in the skin)
  • Minor injuries
  • High fever
  • Rash
  • Breathing problems
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Persistent stomach ache

If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s health, the team at Lapeer Pediatrics makes scheduling a sick visit easy.

What can I expect at the appointment?

Knowing that being ill or injured is never a fun experience, the team at Lapeer Pediatrics are dedicated to creating a supportive and caring environment for their patient’s and their family’s.

Initially, you and your child will meet with the team and review the current medical situation, as well as any past medical history. The team could order tests like lab work or an X-ray. Once a diagnosis has been made, the team will work with you to create a treatment plan that works for both you and your child.

The team at Lapeer Pediatrics knows that life can be hectic and unexpected illnesses or injury can be hard to deal with. They’re happy to take walk-in cases, as well as schedule same-day appointments. Lapeer Pediatrics offers extended hours on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and are glad to be open on Saturday until 1pm.
